Fort Ticonderoga Tour

Fort Ticonderoga

Drive Dates: Thursday and Friday, September 5 & 6, 2019

Tour Drive Distance: 190 miles (roundtrip)

Estimate tour duration: 3 hours

Travel through Vermont’s Green Mountains, part of the Appalachian Mountain system, with its many peaks that rise above 3,000 feet into the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. These mountains are home to the largest protected natural area in the lower 48 of the United States.

Our drive will include stops at the University of Vermont’s Morgan Horse Farm, a historic breeding facility since 1907. This farm boasts one of the first American-bred horse breeds and Vermont’s official state animal. After our stop there, we’ll head to historical Fort Ticonderoga NY, a central piece in much of America’s early history, and now a living museum where we will explore the fort’s beautiful and historical landscape while experiencing a place of American history.

Lunch will be on the Fort Ticonderoga grounds.

Our tour officially ends upon the completion of lunch. For those who wish to return to the Woodstock Inn together, the tour leaders will depart for the hotel shortly after lunch.

Please note that there are several points of interest in both the Green Mountains and the Adirondack Mountains. Both contain many interesting sites including local artisans in various media. There is even a museum dedicated to the original Star Trek series located right in Ticonderoga, NY.
