Getty Villa Intro Tour

The Getty Villa is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum. Located at the easterly end of the Malibu coast in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, USA, the Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The collection has 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 BC to 400 AD, including the Lansdowne Heracles and the Victorious Youth.

Our tour drive to the Getty will take us along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) shoreline drive. Majestic views of the Pacific Ocean, the Santa Monica Mountains plus the challenging twists and turns of Mulholland Highway and Decker Canyon will leave you breathless. These are roads where most monthly car magazine test-drive new models (including Porsches) for editorial critique.

Lunch will be at Taverna Tony’s in the heart of Malibu. Tony’s Greek Feast includes a selection of 15 different house specialties. Try not to be star-struck by the many Hollywood/Malibu celebrities that frequent Taverna Tony’s. The official tour event will end upon our arrival at the taverna.

Round-trip from Santa Barbara, including lunch break, will be about 6 hours.
