CAR MUSEUM (FRED PHILLIPS CAR COLLECTION) TOUR

Car Museum (Fred Phillips Car Collection) Tour

Drive Dates: Thursday and Friday, September 13 & 14, 2018

Total Drive Distance: 230 kilometers (144 miles)

Estimated total tour duration: 7 hours (includes return to Banff with Tour Leader)

We’ll depart the staging area at Mount Norquay ski resort for a 1 3/4-hour drive east along the Bow Valley to the Springbank Airport on the outskirts of the Calgary city limits.  The tour will exit Banff National Park at Canmore and join the Bow Valley Trail taking participants from the eastern Rockies to the rolling foothills.  The road narrows as we enter the Stoney Indian Reservation and once through we’ll stop for a break at man-made Ghost Lake.  An additional 30-minute drive will have us arriving at the airport hangers.

Fred Phillips is a true car-guy and he may have assembled the most fantastically varied car collection in the country.  Over 25 years, his collection has swelled to over 100 and includes muscle cars, micro-cars, pre-war cars, custom one-off show cars, Italian exotics and race cars (Can-Am, Le Mans, dragsters).  This will be a guided tour and we’ll hear the stories behind many cars in his collection.  All the proceeds Fred collects from his tours (included in your tour cost) go directly to a local charity special to him and his family.

After the tour and in an adjacent hanger, a BBQ lunch will be served, surrounded by the Porsche collection of long term members of the Wild Rose Region.
